C.H.O.S.E.N. Youth Ministry
But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood,
an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth
the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness
into his marvelous light;-I Peter 2:9
Did you know that this scripture is the Biblical foundation for our Youth Ministry? Our pastor appointed a capable young man to guide our youth, Elder Charles Stevenson, Jr. He serves as the pastor of Choudrant COGIC, and he is the financial secretary for Progressive Community District. He earned a certificate in Christian Education from C. H. Mason Bible College and a certificate in theology from Interdenominational Theological Center. In addition, he graduated from Southern University-BR with a degree in electrical engineering.
After working as a manufacturing engineer at General Motors for sixteen years, he performed contract engineering for a company in Tennessee. He is currently an instructor at Delta Community College. Furthermore, Elder Charles Stevenson, Jr., is a successful entrepreneur. He is also a family man who is married with four children. Despite his other obligations, he is pleased to serve as the founder of C.H.O.S.E.N. Youth Ministry and as the Youth Pastor. As the Youth Pastor, he developed a Bible-based name and a mission statement.
C.H.O.S.E.N. Youth Ministry represents Choosing Holiness Over Sin Even Now. The Youth Ministry exists to show our young people the love that Jesus Christ has shown us, to train them to know the Word of God so that they may be saved, have a Holy Ghost baptism experience, grow to spiritual maturity, and be effective in ministry for years to come. Upon his appointment, he solicited the help of all youth workers. Not only did the Youth Department workers agree to help, but many new "laborers" also volunteered to work with our youth.
C.H.O.S.E.N. Youth Ministry is working cooperatively and diligently to ensure that we accomplish our mission and that our young people of all ages have fun in an appropriate Christian way. We have sponsored the following activities: sports, Christmas "Birthday" Party at Skatetown, a Christmas Celebration, Friday Night Live Talent Search, College Ministry, a Red & White Celebration Banquet, Youth Explosion, a Youth Hour of Power (during the District Holy Convocation), "We've Got Spirit" Sunday, and Camouflage Day. There are many things that grapple for the attention of our youth; let's pray that they will choose holiness even now!
